Confusing?
Pastor Jim Montgomerie    [email]    ( Netherlands ) 2015-11-13     Views : 445     Touched : 113
1 John 1:8-9. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If a person has not become truly born again of the water and the Spirit, he cannot see into nor enter into the kingdom of heaven ( John 3: 3,5 ). If you cannot see into the kingdom of heaven then it is impossible for you to understand what these verses from 1 John 1:8-9 mean.

Worldly Christians who have not become properly born again of the water and the Spirit still live under the law of Moses. Those who live under the law are guilty of committing sin and destined for hell.

Those of us who have become truly born again of the water and the Spirit still commit the same sins as those who are destined for hell, but we are going to heaven.

The difference between those who commit the same sins but ending up in different places can only be understood by those who have become truly born again of the water and the Spirit. Those who have not become truly born again commit sin under the law, those who have become truly born again of the water and the Spirit commit sin because their flesh is weak, but are not sinners.

Still confused. It gets better. Those worldly Christians who are not born again of the water and the Spirit are in a way being honest with themselves, the law convinces them they are sinners which prompts them to confess they are, and ask for forgiveness. Their problem is they are unrighteous because they continue to admit they are sinners, and as God only has ears for the righteous they will remain sinners and will die in their sin. On the other hand, those of us who have truly become born again of the water and the Spirit know we commit the same sins because of the weakness of our flesh, but we have been declared righteous before God because of our confession, we know that we will also die in our sinful flesh, but sinless.

Only the truly born again of the water and the Spirit are able to understand that 1 John 1:8-9 is talking about two different entities. The inside man and the outside man, the heart and the flesh. The born again know their flesh is weak but their heart is sinless, they have made the proper confession and have been cleansed and been declared righteous. Whereas, those who have not become born again of the water and the Spirit can never become free from their confession that they are sinners continually in need of forgiveness.

This is why it is so important for all of us to insure that we have the perfect understanding of the gospel of the water and the Spirit as we preach it to the worldly Christians who believe they have also been born again. They also believe in 1 John 1:8-9 only they donít have a clue what it means to make the proper confession which allows them to continue sinning and still go to heaven. It is the duty of the born again to lead these people to make the correct confession just as we did.

It is not really as confusing as it sounds, you just have to be truly born again of the gospel of the water and the Spirit to understand what I am talking about.

God bless.
