“To remain in the flesh is more needful for you” (Philippians 1:24)

Philippians chapters 1–4 contain the fellowship between Paul in prison and the saints who sent help by Epaphroditus. Jesus, who is the Son of God and is God, had all the sins of the world passed on to Him once and for all through the baptism He received from John. Our lifelong sins are all included among them. Because of those sins, Jesus was judged on the Cross in our place, shed His blood and died, and rose again from death. To Paul, who had obtained new life by believing in the gospel of the water and the Spirit, the body that remained to him was a tool for serving the saints. The saints, having received the same love, helped in that labor. It is a life of benefiting one another with the life received.
