Finally, the sins are not atoned from their hearts and they still remain sinners even though they claim to believe in Christ. However, the apostles precisely preached the gospel of water and the Spirit, we see for example Peter in Acts 1: 21-22 and Acts 10:37-38 emphasizing the beginning of the public ministry of Jesus when he came to be baptized by John the Baptist to take away the sins of the world. John the Baptist himself, before Jesus went to atone our  his sins on the cross, testified that he took them on his body at his baptism. John 1:29, 36.
Ultimately Christianity today is the product of the Nicea encounter where Christianism has become like all the other religions of the world where men by their hard work, effort, and prayers of repentance become their own saviour.
In conclusion, we must not put our faith in dogmas, creeds, and other councils, but in the marvelous gospel of the water and the Spirit, which gives us the certainty that our sins have been blotted out forever by the baptism of Jesus, his death, his resurrection, and his present mediation as our high priest and advocate.
