Among the teachings of countless religions, how can we discern the true gospel of life?

1 Kings chapters 13–17 show, through the false altar and the death of the man of God, through Ahab’s worship of Baal and the famine of Elijah’s day, that the standard of discernment is not a person’s position or years of experience but the word of God that He has already given clearly.

This book makes clear why leaving out the baptism of Jesus and preaching only the Cross is to change God’s law of salvation. By the baptism He received from John the Baptist, Jesus took the sins of the world upon Himself; on the Cross He received the judgment of sin and died; and He rose again.

Hold fast to the gospel of the water and the Spirit, unmixed with false teaching. Believe in God, who fed Elijah and the household of the widow of Zarephath even in a severe famine, and in the spiritual famine of today as well, preach this gospel to the whole world with greater faith.
