“Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17).

In Ephesians chapters 4–6 we come upon scenes in which members help one another with the gifts each has received, and in which Paul, bound in chains, asks for prayer for the word he is to preach. The One who made us righteous is Jesus, who is the Son of God and the true God. Through the baptism He received from John, the Lord bore once and for all the sin of the world, including even the sins we have committed and those we will commit in the future, and He shed His blood and died on the Cross in order to receive the judgment for that sin in our place. Because we believe in the salvation accomplished by the Lord who rose again from death, we hold on to the word even in the face of our weaknesses. I hope that you will take into your hearts the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, which saves people from sin.
