HOW CAN WE RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT AS A GIFT? [New Revised Edition]Rev. Paul C. Jong
TO RECEIVE THE INDWELLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT YOU MUST FIRST MEET JOHN THE BAPTIST.
Hello everyone, today I would like to share my review titled TO RECEIVE THE INDWELLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT YOU MUST FIRST MEET JOHN THE BAPTIST. How are you? How is the state of your heart? Do you believe to be sinful even after you confess to believe in Jesus? Or do you believe to be without sin after believing in Jesus? Ponder deeply!
In the book of Acts Chapter 2 verse 38 it tells us that, once we repent (turned away from our sinful state into a righteous state of our heart) each one of us must be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!!! It is so imperative that we should grasp this scripture verse correctly by the Grace of God. It says repent and let each one of you be baptized into the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. This teaches us the correct way of how you and I can be made one with God who is Triune and Divine.
The true repentance spoken of here is the place where every human being born in this world comes to recognise himself or herself as a brood of evildoers who is heading to hell as a complete sinful being and who cannot help but produce sin at every breath from birth until death (Mark 7:21-23). Thereby one comes to genuinely understand the need for help to escape such a wicked or sinful state or nature and the destiny of eternal death (Hell).
Then immediately one comes to hear and believe in the baptism of Jesus Christ from John the Baptist, where He took all the sins of the world, as John the last high priest and the representative of mankind transferred all our sins from the first man Adam’s sins, all the way to the sins of the last person to be born on this earth. Yes! John the Baptist as the greatest man among all mankind indeed stood as the last High Priest of the Old Testament and performed his duty of transferring sin onto the Sacrificial Lamb of God, even Jesus, by the laying on of hands (Leviticus 16:21, Matthew 3:15).
That is why it is important to meet John the Baptist before meeting Jesus Christ. Which simply means that we must understand correctly the role that John the Baptist performed as one sent by God (John 1:6-9, Isaiah 40:3). Yes! John had firstly prepared the hearts of the people, by telling them to repent of all their sins, and they did so by confessing all their sins to John as the last High Priest on earth, just as the people of Israel could confess all their sins to the appointed high priest, even Aaron and his descendants, to which John is part of it (1 Chronicles 24:10, Luke 1:5).
So the people confessed their sins to John the last high priest on earth. It was yet fitting for John the Baptist to transfer all the world’s sins onto the body of Jesus Christ when he had baptized Him in the Jordan River. Thus, all the righteousness of God was fulfilled by making all mankind sinless and righteous immediately when we believe in the baptism of Jesus Christ where He took away all the sins of the world (John 1:29), and His death on the Cross where He paid for all the wages of our sins, as it was fitting for Him to die in order to complete the work for our salvation—just as He was named JESUS so that He might save all mankind from our sins (Matthew 1:21, John 19:30).
Because Jesus is the Divine God Himself, He resurrected from the dead to show us that truly He is God and death could not hold Him down. Thence, by believing in His resurrection, we have obtained newness of life, a life free from sin and eternal death (John 8:32). Hallelujah!!!
Therefore, there is no need to remain as sinners after believing in Jesus correctly. There is no need of working hard to try to wash your sins by yourself through consistent prayers of repentance, or fasting tirelessly, or speaking in tongues to try to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. For this is never the way to be made one with God. But rather, only the way of His baptism, death and His resurrection is the way that makes us to be made one with God. Amen!!!
Nevertheless, I urge you to come and reason with the Lord (Isaiah 1:18) despite how great your sins may seem to be. Come and believe in the baptism of Jesus Christ from John the Baptist where He took away all the sins of the world, your sins and mine alike (1 Peter 3:21), and His death on the Cross where He paid for all the wages of sin, yours and mine alike, and in His resurrection through which newness of life is obtained completely.
Yes! By you believing in both the baptism, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 John 5:6), you will become one transformed from a sinful being into a righteous being and attain the identity of becoming a child of God just by believing in this truth, and immediately you come to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, for you become one who is baptized into the One Triune God (the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit) by believing in this truth of the Water, Blood and the Spirit.
May God bless you as you come to learn more and open your heart to the only truth of Jesus’s baptism, death and resurrection. Hallelujah!!!
